# Business email DNS setup: MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC

Create the destination mailboxes before changing DNS. Edit records at the authoritative DNS provider and keep a copy of the old settings.

## Required records

- MX at your domain root: priority 10, target kurumsal.civema.com. Do not enter an IP or an HTTPS URL.
- Use one SPF record. For a domain sending exclusively through this server, a starting example is `v=spf1 ip4:89.43.78.195 ~all`. Merge other legitimate senders rather than deleting their authorization.
- Copy the domain-specific DKIM public key and selector supplied for your service. Never reuse another customer's key.
- Start DMARC monitoring at `_dmarc` with `v=DMARC1; p=none`, then plan enforcement after verifying legitimate traffic.

Keep website A records unchanged. Old and new MX providers do not synchronize mailboxes. Allow DNS caches to refresh, then verify incoming and outgoing delivery and authentication results. PTR is managed by the IP provider. See [Mailcow DNS documentation](https://docs.mailcow.email/getstarted/prerequisite-dns/).
